GPO Setting causing full application CRASH
« on: May 01, 2008, 06:59:37 AM »

Orgplus 7.0

When running on one of our machines on the our domain, as a standard (non-admin) user
clicking on either OPEN/SAVE or IMPORT in OrgPlus results in a hard crash and termination of the app

Running the app as an Administrator in the domain (local machine admin is not sufficient) the standard windows dialog box
displays as expected

After exhausting all options regarding file, registry & DCOM permissions attention was turned to Group Policy Settings

After some investigation we found that the following 2 GPO settings affected the app

User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Explorer / Common Open File Dialog

1)      Items displayed in Places Bar
2)      Hide the common dialog places bar

In our production domain, these are set as:

1) Enabled ( MyDocuments, MyPictures, Desktop )
2) Enabled

The application tries to display the windows shortcuts bar on the left of the Common Open dialog window, but is prevented from doing so
by GP, but instead of handling this and continuing, it just crashes....

To fix this we created a new link GPO the scope of which will only apply to
